Welcome Aboard, Dawn!
I'm so glad you navigated your way to the Disney Parks Moms Panel to ask your question! A couple weeks before you leave home for your Disney Cruise Line vacation, you will receive a book in the mail. Inside, there should be luggage tags with your stateroom number on them. You can put these tags onto any bag that you would like the porters to deliver to your stateroom. You will not have to "lug" around all of your luggage as you explore the ship.
Keep in mind, however, that it sometimes takes quite a few hours for the bags to arrive to your room. You will want to keep items such as
medications and valuables with you. Also, if you plan to swim once you are onboard, you might want to pack a tote with swimsuits in it to keep with you.
When my husband and I have traveled without our children on a Disney Cruise, the first thing we do once we board is head to the lesser-known open restaurant, either Enchanted Garden (on the Disney Dream & Fantasy), Carioca's (on the Disney Magic), or Parrot Cay (on the Wonder) to have a relaxing lunch. My favorite is the peel and eat shrimp! Then, we wander around, getting acclimated to the ship. I try to head up to the pool deck to get a Bon Voyage drink, too. This usually takes enough time that our stateroom is ready and we go and drop of our tote bag.
I hope you have a fantastic Disney Cruise! Please let us know if you have further questions as your embarkation day gets closer.
Happy Cruising, Tracy V.
