Welcome aboard, Melanie! Packing for your
Disney Cruise Line vacation is all part of the fun of the big countdown to setting sail!
Disney Cruise Line's seven-night sailings include five cruise casual dress nights (one of which is
Pirate Night), one Formal night, and one Semi-Formal night. The Formal night tends to be the first day at sea, and the Semi-Formal night tends to fall on the last day at sea (not the last night of the sailing), though those are always subject to change.
You'll see a wide variety of
Semi-Formal and Formal wear on those two evenings. Guests will wear their dressiest outfits on Formal night, and you'll see many in evening dresses, suits for the men, and sometimes even a tuxedo or two. But, a suit or blazer and dress shirt and slacks, with a tie for men is the most common to see that night. For ladies, you'll see a wide variety of dresses, tending to be more fancy on Formal night, some in really formal ball gowns, but not that many, as it's mostly the typical little black (or other color) dress type attire.
Formal night is also the evening when the Disney characters are out for meet and greets with guests, and they wear their formal best: tuxedos and ball gowns, so it sure makes for some fun photos!
On Semi-Formal night, men tend to wear suits, or just dress shirts and khakis with a tie, or some without a tie. The women are usually wearing a nice summer type dress, or sometimes even something more dressy. Honestly, Melanie, go with what you feel most comfortable in within those suggestions, as you'll see a bit of everything on those two nights.
I hope those details help as you pack your bags to set sail! Have a magical cruise!
