My husband and I have a trip planned with our granddaughters at the beginning of June. Should I go ahead and make park reservations now or can I wait till it gets closer to the trip?

    Hey howdy hey, Sherry.

Welcome to planDisney! I'm always happy to rustle-up an answer for a fellow Texan, so thanks for boot-scooting by. I think it's wonderful that you and your husband will be taking your granddaughters on a magical Walt Disney World Resort adventure! They are so lucky to have grandparents like you.

You've chosen the perfect time to visit The Most Magical Place on Earth, in my opinion. Your June trip means you will get to experience everything the 50th Anniversary Celebration has to offer, as well as one of my favorite annual events, the EPCOT International Flower & Garden FestivalEPCOT never looks more beautiful than when it's in "full bloom" with lush gardens at every turn. Your granddaughters will love discovering topiaries of their favorite Disney characters throughout the park, and you will all enjoy the delicious food at the Outdoor Kitchens. My favorite treats from last year's Festival were the Frozen Desert Violet Lemonade at the Pineapple Promenade and the Local Wildflower Honey-Mascarpone Cheesecake at the Honey Bee-stro. The menus for this year's Festival haven't been announced yet, but I hope they're returning so you can try them too. Oh, and be sure to take your granddaughters on Spike’s Pollen-Nation Exploration, a scavenger hunt throughout the park. They're sure to enjoy it!

Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind, a brand-new intergalactic indoor coaster adventure, is set to open at EPCOT in Summer 2022 as well. I'm crossing my fingers it's open in time for your trip, but it's definitely something to look forward to. With so many fun and exciting happenings going on during your vacation and knowing that it will be summer break for most states, Walt Disney World Resort may be a bit busy. Knowing this, I think the earlier you make your Theme Park Reservations, the better.

You should check Theme Park Reservation availability first, then purchase your park admission. Once you've finished both of these steps, you can proceed with making a Theme Park Reservation via the Disney Park Pass system. I recommend you go ahead and book your Theme Park Reservations now. If you decide to make changes to which parks you visit closer to the date of your arrival, you can always cancel your Theme Park Reservations and book new ones (subject to availability) from your My Disney Experience account.

Sherry, I hope your magical vacation is everything your heart's been dreaming of and more. Enjoy making memories to last a lifetime with those you love most!

    Have a magical day,
    Alyssa
