Hello! My husband and I are travelling to WDW with two kids and grandparents in january 2016. Wanted to stay at villas at Beach Club, Boardwalk or Bay Lake Tower. No rooms seem to be available! Are the reservations not open yet or are the resorts crowded?

    Hi Fernanda!

January generally is a less busy time to visit the Walt Disney World Resort. I think perhaps reason that you are having difficulty is the dates you are looking at. It looks like you put an arrival date of January 5, 2016. That is Walt Disney World Marathon Weekend. This exciting runDisney event offers a 5K, a 10K, both a half and a full marathon, kids races and a Race Expo and runs from January 6, 2015 to January 10, 2015. This event brings many more Guests than is typical for a winter weekend. The resorts you are specifically looking at tend to be ones that are quite popular for runners. Since races usually begin and end at Epcot, both Disney’s Beach Club Villas and Disney’s Boardwalk Villas are within walking distance of the finish line. Disney’s Bay Lake Tower is also popular as it is easily connected to Epcot via Monorail.

There are several other Disney Deluxe Villas that currently show me availability during that week. My family’s favorite is Disney’s Animal Kingdom Villas. With beautiful African decor, views of the savanna available right from your balcony and amazing dining, it might be a great choice for your family. You may also wish to consider Disney’s Old Key West Resort for a relaxing taste of old Florida charm, or two connecting Deluxe Studios at Disney’s Polynesian Villas & Bungalows offer an ideal location right near the Monorail and Magic Kingdom.

While some resorts may be already sold out, this is mostly due to the race. I would imagine crowds would be moderate, and not nearly as crowded as the it will be just a week prior over the Christmas and New Year’s Holiday. Please let us know how else we can help you as you plan your upcoming trip!

    Have a Disney Day!
