Husband & I are taking our then 4 year old son to WDW this spring, staying at BC, so plan to take advantage of sandcastle club for us to have date night. My son is potty trained, but won't go into the bathroom by himself; will this be a problem?

Hi Stephanie! My children spent an evening at the Sandcastle Club last year, and they had a great time! They really enjoyed meeting and playing with other children there, and my husband and I enjoyed having a quiet adult dinner at one of the Signature restaurants.

Children must be potty-trained to attend the Children's Activity Centers, and based on my experience, it seems the castmembers are prohibited from assisting children in the bathroom. My 4-year-old nephew visited the Sandcastle Club, and although he is potty-trained, he did request help with clean-up after he used the bathroom there. The castmembers sent my 10-year-old son in to help my nephew and told my son that they weren't allowed to go in.

The bathroom at the Sandcastle Club is one small room, similar to the bathroom at your house, so it's not intimidating for a child to enter alone. Since you have several months before your trip, it's quite possible that your son will no longer be requesting someone else to enter the bathroom with him and you won't have a problem. If, however, he still wants someone in the bathroom with him next spring, I recommend that you call the Sandcastle Club directly a few weeks before your vacation to inquire whether they can accommodate that request. If they can't, you can always hire a sitter from Kids Nite Out or another service, so that you and your husband can have your date night.

Have a magical vacation! Come visit me again at the Moms Panel if you have more questions! I'm happy to help!
