My husband and I are taking my 2 1/2 year old next year before he turns 3. We're on a budget, planning on doing Magic Kingdom one day and Animal Kingdom the next. What are some affordable experiences that we should look into for him?

    Hi Natalie!

Hopefully, I can give you just a couple of pointers for affordable fun.

First, since you don't need to worry about juggling school schedules just yet, if you can plan your vacation for while school is in session (avoiding spring break, summer vacations, etc) you'll most likely be able to take advantage of both lower crowds at the parks AND lower resort rates. To pick these value seasons, be sure to look under the room rate link on an individual resort's page - choose the value season dates to see the lowest rates.

With two days in the parks, I'd be sure to schedule a character meal to give your little one some stress-free time with them! Two great options are The Crystal Palace at the Magic Kingdom which features Pooh and Friends and Donald's Safari Breakfast at Tusker House in the Animal Kingdom. Breakfast will be the lowest priced table service meal of the day - perfect for a ton of fun on a budget! Both are great meals, so you really can't go wrong with whichever you pick.

And, last, but not least, be sure to pick out a special spot at the parks to take your son's photo. Not only can you capture a special moment with him, but you can return again in the future and take a the same photo in the same spot. You'll have a special time-lapse set of photos!

PS. All Disney PhotoPass photographers will also take a picture with your own camera, free of charge! Just ask them if they could snap a photo of the family!

Hope you have a wonderful time planning your trip!
