Hello! My husband and I are taking our grandsons (4 & 6) to Mickey's Backyard BBQ in October. What is the best way to get to the BBQ from the Polynesian? And how much time should we plan to get there? I have heard rumors of a bus? Thank you for your he

    Hello Theresa,

Thank you for stopping by the Disney Parks Moms Panel with your question today!  We're honored to have the opportunity to help with your Walt Disney World vacation planning.

As a mom to 3 boys myself, I think Mickey's Backyard BBQ is a perfect choice for a meal with your grandsons.  The food is delicious and there is a corral full of fun to be had - live music, dancing, mingling with Mickey and his pals, entertainment and more.  You'll need to giddy up and over to The Campsites at Disney's Fort Wilderness Resort for your meal.  I'd say the fastest and easiest way to get there from Disney's Polynesian Village Resort is to first make your way by boat or monorail to Magic Kingdom.  From there, head toward the boat dock marked for Disney's Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground and take that over to your destination.  If the boats are not running for some reason, there will be bus transportation from Magic Kingdom available instead.  I'd estimate the trip will take you about 35-45 minutes in all, but I'd give yourself at least an hour to be on the safe side.

Once you arrive at Disney's Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground, you are just a short walk away from the pavilion where the BBQ takes place.  While there is an internal bus system at the Resort, you should not need to use that.

I hope that helps, Theresa, but please visit us again if we can help answer any other questions.  Wishing you a magical visit with your grandsons!
