Hello Brittney!
Thanks for stopping by with your question. I'm happy to help!
It sounds like you'll be utilizing the
Disney Dining Plan on your upcoming visit. This is a great way to enjoy a variety of Quick-Service and Table-Service meals during your trip, plus unlimited self-serve beverages at your resort using your Resort-Refillable Mug. Under this dining plan, each member of your party over age 3 will receive 1 Quick-Service Meal, 1 Table-Service Meal, and 1 Snack or Nonalcoholic Beverage per night of resort stay, in addition to the refillable mug.
I'm hoping you've already secured advance dining reservations for your preferred Table-Service meals, but if not, I urge you to go book as soon as possible, as reservations fill quickly. You can review a list of
eligible Table-Service restaurants here. Note that Fairytale Dining at Cinderella’s Royal Table, Princess Storybook Dining at Akershus Royal Banquet Hall (for lunch and dinner), and Story Book Dining at Artist Point with Snow White will redeem 2 Table-Service meals per guest.
I understand that your husband has some dietary restrictions, but would still like to enjoy the experience with your group. My family had dinner at
Story Book Dining last summer, and the character interactions were so much fun that we would have adored the experience even without the incredible menu. I recommend noting his restrictions when checking in for your meal on your My Disney Experience App or in person with a Cast Member at the check-in podium, and again when speaking with your server once seated. They may be able to partner with the kitchen team to provide alternate options, similarly to how they handle allergy concerns. I can't guarantee they can offer something suitable at every single location (particularly for All You Care to Enjoy buffet-style meals), but it's definitely worth speaking with them when you arrive.
If they aren't able to provide an alternative item that fits his needs, I don't see why your husband wouldn't be able to nibble on his own fare while the rest of your family enjoys the included menu selections.
Guests are permitted to bring their own food and non-alcoholic beverages into the parks, as long as they aren't in glass containers, don't contain loose ice (reusable ice packs should be ok), and don't require heating or refrigeration.
I reached out to a Cast Member via the online chat to get a little more insight for you. Using
Chef Mickey's as an example, Treasure indicated that your husband "can still join even if they do not plan to order a meal and bring their own. If they are using a Dining Plan entitlement, they will still have to redeem a Table-Service meal entitlement for it or pay (if not using a dining plan)." Treasure also reiterated the fact that most restaurants on property can work with guests with special dietary needs. She recommended speaking with the Chef upon arrival regarding his concerns.
Brittney, I hope this helps! If you have any other concerns before your visit next week, please don't hesitate to come back and let us know.
Wishing you a magical (and delicious) visit,
Amy
