Hi Moms! My husband has a security clearance and has to report anytime he leaves the US. Is Castaway Cay considered part of the Bahamas or part of the US (since Disney owns it)? Thanks for your help!

Welcome aboard, Surita! Your family must have a magical sailing booked with Disney Cruise Line very soon! If you haven't yet experienced all of the excitement and relaxation that Castaway Cay has to offer, you're in for a really big treat when your ship makes a call on that beautiful island!

While it is Disney's private island, Castaway Cay is part of the Bahamas, so it sounds like your husband will need to report his trip there. While you're there, there is a Bahamian post office on the island so if you're looking forward to sending post cards to family and friends back home, be sure to bring some cash with you. Since it is a Bahamian island, the post office is run by the Bahamas and so you'll need cash to purchase Bahamian stamps. Besides the fun Disney shops on the island, you'll also find a few local stands set up with Bahamian souvenirs and local goods, which makes for some fun shopping!

I hope your whole family will enjoy your trip just outside the U.S. to a magical island that feels like you're a world away, Surita! Castaway Cay is one of my favorite beaches in the world, and once you arrive, you'll understand why!

Have fun planning your trip and please feel free to stop back to the Disney Parks Moms Panel with more questions before you head out to sea! We're happy to help!
