Hey there, Rachel. Thank you and your husband for his service and the sacrifice your family made to support him in his dedication to our country.
You have to love that
Walt Disney World continues to recognize our service members with the specially priced
Military Salute tickets. With the option to purchase up to six of these tickets per year, your husband can absolutely purchase tickets to use for his parents, as long as he hasn't gone over his annual allotment. These tickets do need to be activated, and by that, it means that your husband will have to show proof of his eligibility (if he's retired, he must have served 20+ years). There are a couple of ways to do this. If you purchase tickets through
Shades of Green, the Armed Forces Recreation Center located at Walt Disney World, those tickets will already be activated, as the service member's credentials are verified at the time the tickets are sold. You'll need to fill out the
ticket request form, and they will contact you regarding your purchase.
Many military bases also carry Military Salute tickets. When you purchase the tickets this way, you'll need to have your husband go with his military ID to activate the tickets at the theme park. It only has to be done once.
Don't forget, you'll still need a
theme park reservation to go into the parks. Shades of Green is running a little slow in getting requests out, so I'd purchase the tickets as soon as you can. You'll need to link them in your
My Disney Experience app to book your reservations.
Thanks for your question, Rachel!
Anna
