    My husband is retired from the military and we would like to take advantage of the Shades of Green military resort at Disney. Will we still be able to use Disney Dining Plan? Do we also have to buy park tickets through Disney to use the Dining Plan? Thanks

    Hi Samantha,
    We're an active duty military family stationed here in Florida and we love staying at Shades of Green! Can I let you in on a little secret? Shades of Green is located on Walt Disney World Resort property but is actually an Armed Forces Recreation Center, and is operated by the US Army.

    If you would like to take advantage of Disney Dining Plans, you will have to book a Magic Your Way vacation package with the Walt Disney World Resort (via your travel agent or directly through Disney), meaning you will have to stay in a Walt Disney World Resort hotel (i.e. not at Shades of Green). Did you know that there are excellent military discounts on rooms located on property, subject to availability? Just mention that your husband is retired US military to see what is available. You should still be able to purchase exclusive military tickets regardless of which resort you choose, as ticketless packages are available.
