Hi, My husband and I are planning a trip to Disney to celebrate our 35th wedding anniversary. We are looking at staying at animal kingdom. Am I able to request a room that has a view of the animals?

    Jambo Heather!

Welcome back to planDisney and happy early anniversary! I can't think of a more magical destination to celebrate 35 years of marriage with your Prince Charming than at Walt Disney World Resort. I've had the pleasure of staying at Disney's Animal Kingdom Lodge twice in the last year and I just know you'll love the relaxed ambiance and incredible animal views. Let's discuss the details.

Disney's Animal Kingdom Lodge is actually made up of two separate buildings but neither falls short on stunning savanna views. You'll find the main lobby at Jambo House, as well as some fantastic dining options like Boma- Flavors of Africa and Jiko- The Cooking Place one floor down. Just a short shuttle ride away you'll find Disney's Animal Kingdom Villas- Kidani Village, a primarily Disney Vacation Club property, that houses another beautiful lobby and Sanaa, my favorite restaurant at the resort. Don't miss the Indian-style Bread Service or the Samaki Wa Kupaka (a mouthwatering fish in a delicious coconut gravy) should you decide to make an advance dining reservation there. I enjoyed lunch with a friend on my last visit and loved watching the animals walk past just outside the windows as I sipped a refreshing glass of wine.

You'll find a variety of room types across both buildings with traditional hotel rooms at Jambo House, and Deluxe Studios with kitchenettes at both Jambo House and Kidani Village. You'll also find a few 1 bedroom and larger suites as well depending on your needs. Each of these room types is available in a standard view (views of the pool, resort, or parking area) as well as a Savanna view. I'd definitely recommend choosing the Savanna view in the checkout process as you'll be greeted with stunning views of many species of animals roaming just beyond your balcony. On my last visit, we woke up to a beautiful sunset over the serene grounds and spotted a zebra having breakfast just a short time after. You'll be able to view the animals from a few different areas in the resort even if you don't opt for a Savanna view room, but in my opinion, it's worth the upgrade to watch giraffes in your pajamas each morning.

I hope this helped Heather! If I can answer any additional questions about the resort please come back and let me know. Wishing you a most magical anniversary celebration!

    Magic and memories,
    Amy
