My husband and I are planning our next WDW trip. We would like a different experience (stayed at Coronado and AK). Are there any you would suggest that are unique but also budget-friendly? Any budget tips on WHEN to visit WDW?

  • Hi Darby!

This is such a great question, because there really are so many fabulous resorts at Walt Disney World! We love staying right in the heart of the magic, and we know that no matter which resort we choose, we’ll experience Disney’s world class service along with all the extra benefits of staying on property.

I often recommend Disney’s Port Orleans Resort to my friends, since this resort offers beautiful grounds, pools and theming at a moderate price. For a truly unique experience, you can even stay in a Royal Guest Room, where you will sleep like the King and Queen in an elaborately decorated room inspired by Disney’s animated film, The Princess and the Frog. For a room with a lot of character, you may also enjoy Disney’s Art of Animation Resort, or Disney’s Pop Century Resort. Both are decorated with larger than life icons that capture your imagination without capturing your entire vacation budget. We just returned from a stay at Disney’s Art of Animation Resort and it was a huge hit with my family.

To stretch your vacation dollar even further, I recommend visiting Walt Disney World in mid to late September. Since school has begun in most areas of the country, this tends to be a quieter season, and this corresponds to budget friendly rates. Sometimes Disney even offers special promotions during this time. The weather is still quite warm, and makes for wonderful afternoons at the pool. If you visit during the last week of September, you may even get to experience the Epcot International Food & Wine Festival.

Have fun with your vacation planning, Darby. I can’t wait to see all the great ideas my fellow Moms Panelists have for you!
