My husband and I are planning our first visit to Disney with our two daughters. They will be 6 and 4. We are very excited!! We are planning and budgeting, but wanting to make it a memorable visit until we go again! What are some some must do's?

    Louanne,

What a  great trip you will have! I am going in the fall with my two girls, also 6 and 4. I would love to help you with the planning.

Let's start with where you are staying, and when you are going.

I would say the fall is a great time to take advantage of your kids ages. Later in life it will be harder to get away during the school year. So take advantage of going during the school year NOW, when the crowds are typically lighter. That will be a start to making it special.

Next, where will you stay? If you write me back with ideas of what you would like, I can help. But for me the best choices, by class are; Deluxe: Polynesian; Moderate: Port Orleans Riverside; Value: Art of Animation. The theme of the resort can make the magic really last all trip long.

I would also recommend that you use a Disney Authorized, no-fee agency. They can help you find the best savings available for your trip, and there is no cost to you.

Finally, as to the must-do's. Remember that simply going is a treat unto itself. Don't feel the pressure to do tons of extra things, as simply going there will be great. But do plan some great meals. The dining experience, especially for kids, can be a huge part of the overall trip. Consider some character meals, like Chef Mickey's, Tusker House, or a princess meal.

Write me back and let me know what else you would like to consider!

    Have a magical vacation!
