my husband and i are planning our first family vacation in june. we have 5 children ages 10, 8, 5, 2, and 1. we are not sure which park to visit, we are only going to the park 1 day! not sure what the hopper pass is for. please help!!

If you're really only going to be at Disney World for one day, then I would suggest you spend it at the Magic Kingdom. There is plenty to do for all ages here and it really is the quintessential Disney experience -- something the older children will remember for a lifetime.

There are several different versions of park admission ticket. The basic ticket is what you need for a one-day entrance to one park. If you wanted to enter more than one park per day, you would need to add the "park hopper" option onto your ticket.  For you, only having one day at WDW, I would really recommend that you concentrate on seeing as much as you can of the Magic Kingdom. If you had more time to spend at the parks, then you might consider "hopping."

I hope you and your family have a magical trip!
