My husband needs to rent a scooter at Magic Kingdom and AK. Because of neuropathy in his feet, he can’t stand to go through security for any length of time. Are there wheelchairs available outside the gates he can use until he gets to scooter rental area?

Hey There, Hi There, Ho There, Kim!

I’m so delighted to welcome you to planDisney, and I truly appreciate you stopping by with your question today. Your visit to Walt Disney World Resort is just a few short weeks away, which is so exciting! Springtime is such a Bibbidi Bobbidi BEAUTIFUL time to experience the magic, with everything in bloom and such a fun, vibrant energy in the parks. I’m so happy you’ll be there to enjoy it all!

Good news! Each of the four theme park parking lots typically offers a small number of courtesy wheelchairs to help Guests get from their car to the park entrance. Availability can vary depending on demand, so they aren’t always guaranteed, but they’re often there when you need them. After you park, just connect with a nearby Cast Member and let them know you’re looking to use a parking lot wheelchair. If one is available, they’ll point you in the right direction so you can pick it up.

Once you arrive at the entrance, you’ll return that wheelchair and can then rent your dad a scooter inside the park to use throughout your day. At Animal Kingdom, the ECV rental location is at Garden Gate Gifts. At Magic Kingdom, head to the right as soon as you walk through the gates to find the rental area.

Did you know that Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin is set to be open while you’re visiting Magic Kingdom? I’m so excited about the enhancements to this ride. My family loves a little friendly competition, and this attraction is always a blast (pun intended!).

Kim, I hope this helps, and you have the very best trip with your dad. If any other questions pop up as you finalize your plans, you're always welcome as can be here at planDisney!
