Hi Jennifer!
How exciting to be planning your children's first Walt Disney World vacation! You are choosing between two of my favorite Disney Resort hotels. In fact, I have personally stayed at
Disney's Polynesian Village Resort and
Disney's Wilderness Lodge several times each with my family. Although they each offer unique theming, fun recreational activities, and great dining options, I recommend Disney's Polynesian Village Resort based on the ages of your children and the size of your travel party.
The Standard Guest Rooms at Disney's Polynesian Village Resort can accommodate up to 5 adult Guests; whereas, the Standard Guest Rooms at Disney's Wilderness Lodge can only accommodate up to 4 adult Guests. Although you can stay in a Standard Guest Room at Disney's Wilderness Lodge since your little one is under the age of 3, the Guest Rooms at Disney's Polynesian Village Resort are much larger and feature a day bed.
Guests staying at Disney's Polynesian Village Resort will also enjoy being able to take the water launch (water taxi) or Resort Monorail to Magic Kingdom Park. In addition, you can easily take the monorail to Epcot or the other Disney Resort hotels located on the Resort Monorail loop. Although you can't honestly go wrong with either resort, my pick for your travel party is Disney's Polynesian Village Resort.
I hope this information has been helpful in making the best decision for your family. If you have any additional questions, please don't hesitate to reach out again. Best wishes for a magical first trip, Jennifer!
Happy Planning,
Jodie
