My husband, mom and kids. age 5 & 8, and I will be arriving on a Saturday early evening. Should I plan on dinner where we are staying, POP Resort, or should start with a bang with a fancier dinner?

Hi, Laura! While I love the food court at Pop Century Resort, having a more celebratory sit-down meal would be great! The food court is much like eating at a fast food restaurant, and I believe arriving at Walt Disney World deserves a welcome treat.  There are ways to do this without utilizing a theme park ticket, though.  I suggest visiting Downtown Disney for a great meal.  Splitsville Luxury Lanes is one of my family's new favorites.  You can bowl a game and have a fantastic meal.  Maybe dinosaurs are more in line with your kids' interests, if so, check out  T-REX.  Another child-friendly option is the Rainforest Cafe.  Whichever one you choose, I would make an Advance Dining Reservation so that you don't spend your first night waiting around on a table.  Happy planning and have a Magical vacation!
