Hi, Joanne. Welcome to
planDisney! Thanks for bringing us this question. This is what the
Disneyland Resort is all about - being a kid again! When I visit the parks, there are still special places that spark memories from my childhood. I can’t think of a better feeling than reliving the magic that holds a special place in your heart. While any distance may be worth walking for that feeling again, you won’t need to worry about it. Let’s make a plan to get you to the Disneyland Resort as soon as possible.
First, I suggest renting an
Electric Conveyance Vehicle (ECV) to save your steps. You can rent an ECV daily near the entrance to Disneyland, or for the entire length of your stay through the
Disney Featured Provider, which can deliver the ECV to your hotel if it is a
Disneyland Resort Hotel or
Good Neighbor Hotel. It sounds like you can get around fairly well on your own, so use the ECV for the longer distances between your hotel and resort, or even between attractions. You can park the ECV outside attractions in the designated areas and walk into the queues without much trouble.
I’d also suggest staying at a Disneyland Resort Hotel since they are the closest to the entrance of the parks. If you stay at the
Disney Grand Californian Hotel & Spa, the front gate of Disneyland is only about .2 miles from the North exit of the hotel. Guests staying at the Grand Californian can also use the entrance next to the
Napa Rose to enter California Adventure, which leads directly to the
Grizzly River Run area. This will save you a lot of walking!
If you need to rest your feet, some attraction queues can accommodate ECVs, and you can use the return time option for the ones that don’t. Speak with a cast member at the attraction you’d like to experience and ask for a return time. This means you will be given a wait time that is approximately the same as what other guests are waiting, but you can spend that time resting on a bench, maybe enjoying a
churro or other sweet treat.
Joanne, I truly hope these options give you the confidence to visit the Disneyland Resort and relive those childhood memories. If you make it in October, you get to experience the parks all dressed up for
Halloween Time! There are beautiful decorations, delicious treats, and fun entertainment that will get you in the spooky spirit! If you have other questions, don’t hesitate to
ask. I hope we see you real soon.
Have a magical day.
Corey
