My husband and I are looking to take our children on their first WDW trip next fall/winter. When would be the least busy and least expensive? How do we find out about free dining plans or other promotions? Or will those be released later in the year?

Hi, Jessica! Thanks for stopping by with your question and congratulations on your First Visit! You have picked a great time of year for your vacation, as the weather is beautiful, the parks are decked out in their holiday best, and there are several wonderful special events underway. Walt Disney World Resort hotel rates from October through November are usually the least expensive, except for dates surrounding holidays such as Columbus Day, Veterans Day, and Thanksgiving. In my experience, crowds  also follow this pattern, with holiday weeks being quite busy.

The Free Dining offer is never guaranteed to be offered. However, it does seem to turn up in late spring/early summer for stays in the fall. You are more than welcome to go ahead and book a Magic Your Way package, which could include Resort stay, tickets and dining plan. If the Free Dining offer is released, simply call Disney Reservations, provide your confirmation number and ask for the special offer to be applied to your reservation. Understand that all Resorts are usually not available under certain Special Offers and you may need to swap to a different Resort. My family has stayed in almost every Resort on property and we have been pleased with each one, so I am sure you could find one that fits the Offer and helps you enjoy a ton of Mickey’s Premium Ice Cream Bars! Stay tuned to the Walt Disney World Resort Special Offers page to watch for one that will make your family’s trip practically perfect!

I hope this information helps you with your planning, Jessica. Please stop by if you have any further questions for us. Have a magical day!
