Hello, Yolanda! I hope you and your husband have a safe and healthy journey into "Loser"ville.
Navigating a
Walt Disney World vacation with your gastrically altered selves can be a bit of a challenge. As you know, there are so many
dining experiences at Walt Disney World that it becomes as much a part of the vacation as a ride on Space Mountain.
If you have one person in your resort room on a
Disney Dining Plan, everyone must be on the plan. Unfortunately, it doesn't allow for two guests to share a plan. After my gastric bypass surgery, it was really just too much food for me to eat to be on the plan, so we rarely add it to our reservations.
What has helped me is my husband and I sharing meals, or I find a soup and an appetizer I want to try and have that instead of a full meal. Many of the appetizers are generously portioned, and in virtually every restaurant at Walt Disney World, the apps fit in with the type of cuisine the restaurant offers, so I don't feel like I'm being deprived of an Italian meal if we eat at an Italian restaurant.
If the other family members sharing your room are big eaters, you might be able to share your abundance with them if you opt for the dining plan. I just think based on my own experience, it's going to be a lot of food for your new tummies to handle.
Good luck with your surgery!
Anna
