It's always wise to have a Disney vacation just around the riverbend to look forward to, and I am sure you're getting excited for your September trip. Let's get you sorted to ensure that you have all the details about what to expect with your accommodations.
Disney's Grand Floridian Resort & Spa is a practically perfect vacation spot at any time of the year. I had the opportunity to use my own
Disney Vacation Club Membership recently to stay at the resort for the first time, and I really did fall in love! The recently-renovated lobby now features a lovely little bar called
The Perch, and my planDisney pals and I regularly make it a point to visit
Enchanted Rose Lounge to take in the
Beauty and the Beast-themed decor and enjoy some relaxing time together over a drink or two.
Anna Marie, there are two types of DVC studios at the Grand Floridian, and the shower situation is actually different depending on which one you select. The main DVC building houses the
Deluxe Studios, which have a split bathroom layout with a walk-in shower and a tub with shower.
The
Resort Studios are located in the Big Pine Key building, and these do not have the split bathroom. You'll find a standard tub/shower combination in these rooms.
You can request an accessible studio to ensure that there are grab bars in the shower. Members may also request a portable shower chair or transfer bench - however, availability may be limited and this can't be guaranteed. You can always bring any mobility aids that would be helpful for your husband, or rent them from a company in the area for delivery to the resort.
If you didn't already request an accessible room, I recommend calling
Member Services sooner rather than later to add this information to your reservation. The Cast Members will do everything they can to work their magic so that your accommodations are safe and comfortable.
