My husband and I will be at Disney World during the food and wine festival. We have never been. Can you tell me how it works? Do they have free samples or do you pay a certain fee to try different foods? Any information about the festival would be great!

    Hi Michele,

The Food and Wine Festival is one of my favorite events at Walt Disney World. Each day of the Festival, there will be seminars and presentations by chefs, many of them celebrity chefs that you may have seen on the Food Network. Some of the seminars are free, some have a nominal entrance fee (like about $10 per person) and some of the big events cost more than $100. Generally, the less expensive seminars are available first-come, first-served, while reservations are required for the bigger events.

Additionally, there will be several dozen food booths set up around the World Showcase lagoon. These feature sample size portions representing the foods of the various regions and countries showcases. The food usually cost between $3 and $7. When I visit, I typically walk around and make a meal out of 4-6 of these tasting portions.

There is a wealth of information about the Food and Wine festival over on the independent website DisneyFoodBlog.com. The have MANY articles about the food and events at last year's festival and even have an ebook you can buy that gives reviews of entire festival.

Good luck with your planning. Please let us know if you have additional questions.
