My husband deploys to Iraq soon and we are taking an all-out dream vacation with our 4 yr old daughter next month. I was unfamiliar with Ohana's and Whispering Canyon, but have read good things on this panel about them both. Are they both worth a visit?

    Meredith,

First and foremost, thank you to your husband for his service to our country.  And thank you and your daughter for the sacrifices you are making as well.  I am truly grateful, and will pray for his safe and swift return home.

To answer your question, we really like both of the restaurants you mentioned.

Dinner at 'Ohana is a must-do-every-trip meal for my family.  The food is excellent and there are games and music to entertain the little ones.  My daughters have enjoyed coconut races and hula hoop contests!  Breakfast is a character meal with Lilo and Stitch, and while we've never tried it I have heard rave reviews.

Whispering Canyon Cafe is also a fun place to eat, especially with kids.  The food is good (we like the skillet meal) and the Wilderness Lodge is a beautiful resort.  If you're going to dine here, be sure to bring along your sense of humor.  The severs are very playful and quite entertaining.

If you don't already have reservations call (407) WDW-DINE ASAP to see if there are any openings.  If not, continue to try back in case there are cancelations.

Good luck, and have a wonderful vacation!
