Hello! My husband and I are coming to WDW for 14 days in early Oct 2010 from Australia. We don't celebrate Halloween and I was wondering how festive this time of year is at WDW? Are there lots of decorations, etc. I love your Panel, Thanks!!

    Lisa,

    Thank you for the compliment!

My family visits Disney every October because it is our absolute favorite time of year to be in WDW!  The Magic Kingdom is decorated beautifully for autumn, and while the weather is still quite warm, it's not unbearably humid.

Our two favorite reasons for going in October?  Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party and the Food and Wine Festival.

The Halloween party is what they call a hard-ticket event, meaning you have to purchase a separate ticket for admission.  It is held in the Magic Kingdom from 7-midnight, but with a party ticket you can typically enter the park at 4pm.  Normally speaking, we are not big Halloween celebrators, but this party is so unique and so much fun, it tops my must-do list every fall.  The classic characters you love will be dressed in costumes for the occasion, the park is decorated to the hilt, and even the fireworks and the parade get a makeover for the occasion (HalloWishes and the Boo-To-You Parade).  We love it so much we bought the party soundtrack to listen to at home!

And the Food and Wine Festival, well, doesn't the name speak for itself?  There are booths from all over the world, and each country sells appetizer-sized samples of their local cuisine as well as wines and beers from their region.  We love to make a day (or several!) out of this event, feasting our way around the World Showcase in Epcot.  And if that's not enough, you'll also find special concerts, wine tastings, culinary events, and cooking demonstrations available as well.

Now aren't you ready to hop on a plane?!?!
