My husband and I are bringing our 4 month old for the first time to Disney World, one day in EPCOT and one day in Magic Kingdom. How does rider switch work with 2 adults and one baby? We want to ride a few rides that baby can’t go on.

    Hiya, Rachel!

Welcome to planDisney! I am happy you stopped by with this question! I took my youngest daughter to Walt Disney World Resort when she was about your baby's age, and while fun, it does require some extra planning! Rider Switch is a great concept Walt Disney World has for families. One adult will stay with the children in the waiting area, which is usually right outside the queue entrance. Once that adult returns from the attraction, the other can go on. When we went to EPCOT, we utilized Rider Switch for Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind, so my husband and I took turns watching our kids. Even with a Lightning Lane, you will still be able to use Rider Switch, just let the Cast Member in the entrance queue know you want to use this service ahead of time.

Some other travel tips that will help make your visit as smooth as possible are:

    • Baby Care Centers: there is one at each theme park, and they are little havens for diaper changes, feedings, and if the baby (or you!) needs a break from all the noise. The Magic Kingdom Center is my favorite!
    • Stroller Signs: Be sure to add a brightly colored ribbon or make a stroller sign. Stroller parking areas fill up fast, and this step makes it easier to find them.
    • Cribs: If you are staying at a Disney Resort hotel, call the Disney Resort Hotel Reservations line, and add this request to your notes. Cast Members will do their best to make sure a crib or pack-and-play is ready to go in your room once you arrive, or you can request one at check-in.

Rachel, I hope all of this information was helpful! Thank you again for stopping by planDisney. Have a magical vacation!
