My husband and I are bringing our 3 daughters (ages 9,6,1) for their first visit to disney in October. I need major help on where the best place is to stay, and what type of tickets we should get. Also, is it best to plan out each day? Thanks

    Heather,

I suggest you establish your budget first, and allow that to dictate your resort and your park tickets. For example, park hoppers are very nice to have, but that is also one of the first areas I would advise people to save a few dollars if necessary. You can still have a wonderful Disney vacation with park hopper tickets, it just takes a little bit more planning to pull it off.

Since I don't know your budget, I will share my top picks for your group in each resort category.

    Value - Pop Century
    Moderate - Caribbean Beach
    Deluxe - Animal Kingdom Lodge

I picked those based on personal experience - I have three young daughters myself - and I know that these are all resorts they have enjoyed.

As for the planning, I say definitely yes! Especially if you opt to skip the park hopper tickets, you will need to plan your days carefully. Check the Disney Parks calendar and note the parade and fireworks schedules, open and closing times, and any limited-run shows you might want to see (Beauty and the Beast in Hollywood Studios comes to mind). From there you can choose where you'd like to be each day, and make your dining reservations accordingly. October is not a super busy time to visit WDW so you shouldn't  need to have your every move mapped out, but some basic structure to each day will make your vacation run very smoothly!

    Have a wonderful vacation!
