My husband and I booked our first Disney vacation for our 2nd anniversary with a Disney Partner Resort (Homewood Suites). Is there anyway to upgrade to Disney Resort Hotel on property?

    Hi Alyssa,

I am so excited for you and your husband to take your first Disney World vacation together. We went to the theme parks for our honeymoon and it was so much fun! There are many exciting and relaxing things to do together on your vacation.

Homewood Suites is considered a Walt Disney World Good Neighbor Hotel. With that designation, you can book a ticket package, they provide transportation to the theme parks, and Disney does quality checks to ensure they feel comfortable partnering with them. While Disney has partnered with them to ensure you have a great vacation, Homewood Suites cannot be linked to your My Disney Experience account and does not offer Early Theme Park Entry. Since it is not an official Disney World booking, you will not be able to directly upgrade to a Disney Resort Hotel. You would need to cancel the Good Neighbor Hotel and then book a vacation package directly through Disney to move to a Disney Resort Hotel.

I have stayed both on-property and at a Good Neighbor Hotel, and while both are great experiences, I highly recommend staying at an official Disney Resort Hotel because there are so many benefits to staying on-site. My favorite part of staying on property is that when you leave the theme parks to head back for the evening, you don't leave the magic. All of Disney's hotels are expertly themed, have a ton of activities, the pools are fabulous, and the food is next level. The big bonus is that everything can be managed in one place on your MagicBand+ from paying for food to serving as your hotel room key!

    Happy Planning
