My husband is on Coumadin/Warfarin (blood thinner) and must have his INR tested regularly. Is there any place on property? We're staying at the Wilderness Lodge. Alternatively, we're cruising on Dream at the end of the trip; can the ship's doctor do it?

Hi, Elizabeth!  There isn't anyplace on property that can do the INR test.  Your best bet is Celebration Hospital, which is a short taxi cab ride away.  There is also a Quest Laboratory on Turkey Lake Road, which is a bit further, but if your insurance requires a lab, you might want to head there.

Another option is the CentraCare walk in clinic, located just outside of the Downtown Disney resort area.  They offer complimentary shuttle service to the closest clinic from your location, and they do have an on site lab.

Also, you may want to ask your doctor about the possibility of a home Protime/INR testing machine.  These are small, portable machines that you can use to check your INR with just a small drop of blood.  They work very much like the glucose meters a diabetic would use.  Some companies rent them for short term use, and some medical insurance companies cover the machines to purchase them.

Whichever way you decide to go, make sure you have a prescription from your doctor for the lab work.  It will make things much easier if you don't have to wait for someone to call and get the orders from your doctor at home before they can check your blood.

    Have a great vacation!
