Since you and your husband are both avid golfers, I wondered what you could tell me about the golf courses at Disney. Are they worth taking time away from the parks to play? What about the mini-golf?

Hi Heather, the Disney World golf courses are fantastic but whether they are worth missing park time for is entirely up to you, personally with the children being young we love our park time. If all your family play golf it can be a lovely way to spend a rest day and I must admit we are looking forward to that day in a few years time. My husband did sneak off for a round whilst we had a pool day last year though!

Disney has 4 championship courses and you really do need to be a competent player to get your full enjoyment out of the round. Although Disney's Oak Trail 9-hole walking course may suit the newer golfers. If you decide to play and you're staying on-site there is free transportation to the course and you can also rent clubs and shoes at the course!

Now Mini-golf is another matter, we always have to play at least once each trip, we love it. Disney has 4 courses, our favourite is The Fairways at Fantasia Gardens, it is the hardest course and the most real life. We enjoy the themeing of the others though, Winter Summerland which is near to Blizzard Beach has a tropical summer themed course and a snow clad winter course complete with Santa and Christmas music. Both have fantastic holes with squirting water etc. The other course has a Fantasia theme with dancing hippos.

One tip is that you can get a second round, even at a different course, for half price if played within 24 hours and you keep your receipt.

    Have fun, Jo
