My husband and I have arthritis health issues, particularly in legs and back. We will have mobility scooters. Is there a place to park them to get on rides. Is there a handicap entrance to rides and what do we need to do to do this? We are in our 70s

    Hey there, Roberta!

I’m so happy to welcome you back to planDisney with another great question! It sounds like you’re heading into your summer trip to Walt Disney World with a really great plan already in place, which is always such a wonderful way to start the vacation fun. I also noticed this will be your very first visit. How exciting is that?!

Since you’ll be celebrating such a special milestone, be sure to stop by the front desk of your Disney Resort or any Guest Relations location in the parks to pick up complimentary “First Visit” celebration buttons. They’re such a fun keepsake, and Cast Members and fellow Guests love joining in on the celebration throughout your visit!

You’ll be happy to know that most attraction queues throughout Walt Disney World are designed to accommodate Guests using scooters and other mobility devices. For the few attractions where the standard queue isn’t fully accessible, Disney has thoughtfully created alternate entrances so you can still enjoy the experience with ease.

At attractions like "it's a small world" in Magic Kingdom and Spaceship Earth in EPCOT, a Cast Member will simply direct you to the appropriate entrance or boarding area when you arrive. Disney does a wonderful job making the process smooth and easy, so there’s very little you’ll need to worry about ahead of time.

And of course, if you’d rather park your scooter and stretch your legs while waiting in line, you’re more than welcome to leave it in the designated stroller and scooter parking areas nearby before entering the queue.

Since this is such a special visit, I’d really recommend considering adding Memory Maker for your trip. It’s an easy way to capture all those vacation memories without having to constantly stop and ask someone to take your photo. Disney PhotoPass photographers are all throughout the parks, ready to snap pictures in front of the iconic landmarks, during character meet-and-greets, and in some really fun hidden spots, too.

One of my favorite parts is the Magic Shots! The photographers can add adorable Disney surprises into your photos…like Tinker Bell in your hand, Olaf popping up beside you, or even balloons, pixie dust, and other magical touches. I also love that Memory Maker includes select attraction photos and videos, so you may end up with some hilarious ride pictures! It’s one of those extras that really helps you stay in the moment while still coming home with so many wonderful memories captured from your trip.

Roberta, I hope you have the very best trip! You’re about to make memories that will last a lifetime, and I’m so excited for you. Thank you so much for visiting us at planDisney.
