Husband & I arriving Aug.16 for 1 week with our 6 kids, we are looking at trying the new picnic lunch at Animal Kingdom was wondering if anyone has tried this option, how was the food and table availability, we are on dining plan so would use the cs op

Hi, Karen!  Most of my family and I enjoyed the Picnic In the Park at Disney's Animal Kingdom in April.  We purchased the Tier 2 rotisserie chicken meal, and we LOVED it!

With the meal, you get to choose side dishes and desserts, and the meal includes a small bottle of water for each person you purchase for.  We opted for a fruit salad and macaroni and cheese as our side dishes, and a brownie, a cookie, and an apple for dessert.

The chicken was moist and deliciously seasoned, and even though there were four of us, we purchased the meal for three and still had plenty.  The side dishes are about the size you would get from your local KFC, but because we opted for the macaroni and cheese, which was a heavy choice, we were more than satisfied.  We shared the fruit salad as dessert, and ended up taking the desserts with us - with the exception of one bite of the brownie, which I think was nabbed by my four year old while we weren't looking.

I think we were able to get away with the meal for three because one of us was my four year old, who ate mostly fruit and macaroni; and the other one was myself, who had gastric bypass surgery, so limited myself to one piece of chicken and a bite of fruit and macaroni.  But if your kids are young or not big eaters, you might be able to get away with ordering the meal for a smaller number of people than you have in your party.

The only complaint I had - the water bottles are small.  We had no trouble finding shade covered tables, but in the heat of the summer, a bigger bottle of water would come in handy!
