My husband and I along with my 2yr old son and 1yr old daughter is planning to visit WDW from December 1,2012 to December 6, 2012. We are passholders for disneyland in California. Does anyone know what resort is appropriate for my family?”
Hi, Alice! There are so many resorts at Walt Disney World, and really, it depends on your budget and your preferences when it comes to which is the best resort for your family.
With two little ones, if budget allows, you may want to consider one of the deluxe resorts on the monorail. It's the easiest form of transportation, and it can get you to the Magic Kingdom and EPCOT. Those resorts are the Grand Floridian, the Polynesian, and the Contemporary. All have wonderful pools and fantastic amenities, which include full service restaurants, wonderful shops, and a counter service dining area.
My two favorite moderate resorts couldn't be more different. Port Orleans French Quarter, themed after the best of New Orleans, is small and intimate, so it's quite easy to get around with little ones in tow, especially at the end of a long day or if you want to run back in the afternoon for naps. There's another great pool area here, and transportation to the theme parks by bus and boat. I also love Coronado Springs, which is a large, sprawling resort, but the Mayan temple themed pool is very cool.
When it comes to value resorts, I love Pop Century, with it's giant icons from throughout the decades. There's a wonderful food court there, where you can grab a bite to eat from breakfast through a late night snack. If you're looking for extra room, consider a family suite at Art of Animation. You'll find a refrigerator, microwave, two full bathrooms, and a private bedroom for mom and dad, with fold out options in the "living room".
If you want to send me a follow up with some requirements, I can help you pin a place down!
Happy planning!
