Welcome to planDisney, Karen! Like you, I'm glued to the news for updates about the brewing storm. My family was in Orlando during the recent hurricane, so I completely understand that feeling of uncertainty. Since these situations are an unfortunate part of life in Florida,
Walt Disney World Resort has some policies in place. Let's put on our ponchos and take a look!
If a
hurricane warning is issued within seven days for Orlando or your place of residence, you should be able to reschedule or cancel most vacation packages and room-only reservations. If you're like me, your preference would be to reschedule your magical trip; you can modify most ticket dates and Disney Resort Hotel stays online. You can also call the
Existing Tickets line with questions or reach out for help at (407) 939-7675.
My top tip is to watch the
Weather Updates & Information page on the website or your mobile app. My group received weather and event updates through the app, so be sure to turn on push notifications. Mickey's Not-So-Scary Halloween Party was canceled during my visit, and I received that news and instructions through my app. You can also read more about Walt Disney World's
hurricane policies on the Frequently Asked Questions page.
I hope your travel goes smoothly and the storm's strength decreases for your trip. My rainy-day tips are to pack ponchos and rubber shoes like Crocs. During the recent storm event, my sisters and I had a blast splashing through
Disney's Animal Kingdom Theme Park. It was the perfect time to go on Kilimanjaro Safaris because the animals enjoyed the gusty breezes and cooler temperatures!
Karen, I'm sprinkling pixie dust and wishing on a star for your visit to be all you're hoping for. Feel free to stop by
planDisney anytime, and please stay safe.
Magic awaits,
Elaine
