My hubby and I saw a special about AK where there was an animatronic dinosaur that was essentially walking through the park. Not a puppet or costume, but a a "robotic" figure.. I think his name was Lucky. Is he still there? When can you see him?

    Thanks for your question, Cortney!

Our family also loves to watch shows with WDW content.  I believe the one you reference was either on the Travel Channel or the History Channel.  Sometimes these programs are older and can have some outdated information.   Unfortunately that is the case with "Lucky the Dinosaur."  "Lucky" did make appearances at the Animal Kingdom for a while, but he only makes very rare appearances these days.  In fact, the last appearance of "Lucky" that I recall was at the D23 Expo in California last year.

In case you are interested, "Lucky" is one of several characters that the Disney Imagineers have developed through a program they call "The Living Character Initiative."  This initiative has created many different independent animatronic characters over time, including a Dolphin (Google "New kind of animal-tronic" for more info), WALL-E, Lucky, and most recently, Remy at Les Chefs de France.  Although Remy has been around for a while now, many of these characters make relatively rare appearances, probably due to their complexity and perhaps due to some concerns for visitor safety -- I mean, would you want to be run over by WALL-E?  Ouch!

Hope that helps!  Please write again if you have further questions.
