Hi! How's the weather during the first week of January? Would we be able to do any water rides?

    Hi there, Brissa!

The January weather at Walt Disney World in January can be a bit of a mixed bag. Average high temperatures will be about 70 degrees during the day, and overnight lows average in the low 50s. You may, however, see temperatures dip even chillier.

The water rides, however, will be open regardless of the cooler temperatures. Even though the temps are not the summer time high, I still think the water rides can be fun. We have taken several cool weather trips, and at the exit to Kali River Rapids at Disney's Animal Kingdom, a heated fan was set up to help guests dry off from the attraction. We also try to plan our ride on Splash Mountain at the Magic Kingdom either in the middle part of the day where the weather is likely to be warmest, or just before we leave in the evening to head back to our resort and some warm, dry clothes.

Another option is to time the attractions right before grabbing a bite to eat. You can usually enjoy a warm drink or hot soup while you dry off over lunch or dinner after a water ride.

You will usually find one of the water parks is also open this time of year. The water is heated and the crowds are typically low. It's a great time to visit.

    Have so much fun, Brissa!
