Hot weather is not my thing......when is a good time to visit Disney World?

    Welcome back to planDisney Carol.

When I am helping friends plan their magical Walt Disney World Resort vacation, when to go is one of the first questions we discuss. There are a number of things to consider when heading down to see Mickey Mouse and his pals. This may include work or school schedules, crowd levels or special events you want to enjoy. And like you, a big deciding factor for some is what the weather might be like at a particular time of the yEAR.

Florida can get very hot, and when the temperatures and humidity rise it can definitely impact your adventures. The good news is Mother Nature typically relents for a number of months and allows the temperatures to fall to a more comfortable level. The better news is you will also find that these cooler months usually coincide with slower travel periods and smaller crowd levels. One of these ideal times to visit is mid September to mid November. The average temperatures during these months typically range from the lower 80's into the 70's. There have even been a few times that we needed a light sweatshirt in the evenings or early mornings. Visits at this time of the year will also give you a chance to enjoy the fall festivities like the EPCOT International Food & Wine Festival. If there is one downside, it is that this is the end of hurricane season and daily rain is not unusual. Luckily, the rain showers are usually short-lived showers and not a complete wash out. If you do not mind waddling  around like a duck for a little while, grab a poncho and keep going.

If you are looking to embrace even cooler temperatures, the best time to visit would be January through mid March. Historically, January is the coldest month of the year with daily temperatures ranging from the 60's to low 70's and low 50's in the evenings. We have been there during this time frame and was very grateful to have our winter jackets on the occasional blustery day. While the comfortable temperatures often extend into late April, quick tip is crowd levels increase in late March and April due to Spring Break travelers. One bonus is if you are able to visit before the end of March, you will be able to enjoy The World's Most Magical Celebration

I hope this helps you pick the most picture perfect time to visit. If I can help with any additional planning questions, please stop back and see me

Hope to see ya real soon,
    Margaret
