Ahoy, Jennifer!
Welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel! We are so glad you are here. I remember being very anxious on our first sailing wondering if my little ones would go right in the youth spaces without me. Luckily, they did and have enjoyed participating in the programming for many yEARs now.
The one thing I can tell you about our experiences is that the youth counselors are amazing. My kids love interacting and getting to know them when they are checked in. When you arrive onboard, I suggest visiting the
Oceaneer Club and
Oceaneer Lab with your princess so she can get a feel for the spaces with you there. It's also the perfect opportunity for both of you to meet the counselors who will be with her throughout the cruise. I would mention her separation anxiety to the counselors you speak with because I promise they will have some great tips and advice on how to deal with it on your cruise. They completely understand that kids warm up differently and will do their best to make your Mouseketeer feel at home when she visits for secured programming.
Drop-off can be fairly quick depending on how many other sailors are checking in at the same time. Basically, your daughter will just need to scan her Oceaneer Club band and then she's in. Hopefully, this seamless procedure will help with her anxiety. If she's upset, I'm sure the counselors will spring into action to redirect her to one of the many fun activities going on. Like I said before, they are phenomenal at what they do!
Jennifer, thank you again for reaching out with your question. I know your princess will have a magical time visiting the Oceaneer Club on your cruise!
