Hi Ronda! I was thrilled to be able to do some research for you on your question regarding the
Wild Africa Trek, which is a three hour VIP excursion at Disney's Animal Kingdom park. Coincidentally, I am also planning on booking this popular tour for my family, so I called and chatted with a Cast Member at Enchanting Extras (these folks are so knowledgeable and can give you great advice about adding some extra magic to your trip).
First of all, this tour can be booked up to 180 days in advance. Looking at the dates of your trip, it seems like you are almost, but not quite in that range. Just give them a call next week, at 407-WDW-TOUR, and they will be able to book it for you. Since you are going in July, she strongly suggested a morning tour so that you can beat the heat. The first tour of the day is at 8:00 am, which is an hour before park opening. The tour will meet over by Kilimanjaro Safaris, and everyone will be fitted with vests and harnesses. Midway through the journey, they'll serve you a light meal consisting of some gourmet treats. She also mentioned that at the end of the tour, you'll receive a photo code that will allow you to access the images taken by the photographers, so there's no need to worry about dropping your phone while you're crossing the bridge over the crocodiles! She was careful not to divulge too much information, so as not to spoil any surprises, but she did want me to be aware that when you book this, it will not appear in your My Disney Experience account (so don't panic when you don't see it in there).
Set a reminder for yourself to call next week! In the meantime, check out the
Disney Parks Blog for more information on this tour and a few others from the Enchanting Extra Collection.
