Hi!! Hoping to visit the first week or second week of December 2016 but want to avoid the taping of the Christmas Parade. What info can you give me to make the best educated guess about this? Thank you!!

    Hi Denise,
I've got to tell you, Christmas time at the Walt Disney World Resort is my favorite time of year! Incredible decorations, lots of tasty treats and Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party are some of reasons I go back every year. In years past (and this is subject to change without notice), the taping of the Christmas parade has been during the first weekend in December. In 2014, the Monday and Tuesday following that weekend were included also.

If you want to guarantee that you will miss the taping of the Christmas parade, I would suggest attending Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party during your stay. Not only will you not have the crowds that would be in the park at that time since it is a separately ticketed event, they have the Mickey's Once Upon A Christmastime Parade, which is only able to be seen at MVMCP and Holiday Wishes: Celebrate the Spirit of the Season, the beautiful fireworks display created especially for the party. Add in unlimited hot cocoa and cookies and snowfall on Main Street USA (well, the Florida version, anyway) and it's the perfect night in the Magic Kingdom!

    Happy planning!!

    Best Wishes,
    Amy B.
