Hi, JoLynne! I just booked our first stay at the new DVC resort Bay Lake Towers for this coming September, and I cannot wait to check out the new place!
Deciding whether or not the Magic Kingdom view is going to be worth the extra points is something you have to consider for yourself. Here are the things I thought about when booking my reservation. First, the big attraction for me would be the ability to see the fireworks. But when it comes down to it, we're not usually back in the hotel room in time to see them! Which brought up the next question for my family - how much of the view do we actually stay and appreciate? The answer for us was very little. We try to be out early in the morning, and the kids are exhausted by the time we get back in the evening, so it's not like they would be sitting up gazing at the castle like I would be!
Another consideration for me was the length of time we're staying. This is a long weekend for us, and the weekend points in a Magic Kingdom view room would eat up as many points as we would spend for a whole vacation! If I can get back to Walt Disney World for another five days or stay in a Magic Kingdom view room over a weekend, I'll be coming back another time!
Try to determine how much you and your family will actually appreciate having the spectacular view of the Magic Kingdom - and I am certain it will be spectacular! If your family thinks they will really get a good value from having the view then take it! I know at some point, I'm going to book a Magic Kingdom view room for myself, because I know I'll enjoy it, but it will be during a lower points season, not over a weekend, and probably for a special occasion!
Have a wonderful trip "home"!
