I am hoping to register for rundisney marathon weekend in 2023. Is there a time that registration opens? Is there a shirt size guide? How do I make sure my friend and I are in the same starting group?

    Hiya, Hannah! Welcome to planDisney!

Oh boy! I'm so excited to hear that you're planning on going the distance by registering for a runDisney race during the Walt Disney World Marathon Weekend! These race events come packed with so much excitement and there's nothing like running through the parks to make you feel extra special. Truly, every mile is magic!

Hannah, general registration for the marathon will open on April 19, 2022, at 10:00 AM EST. I like to make sure I'm ready a few minutes before it opens, making sure that I've newly logged into my My Disney Experience account so nothing slows me down when I'm ready to register! And take a peek at the Frequently Asked Questions so you have all the information you need prior to registration.

One of my favorite parts of being a part of runDisney is the swag I get to take home, including my race medal and t-shirt! These are the best souvenirs and reminders of every magical mile that I ran. If you do a quick search online, you should be able to find a runDisney sizing guide that could help you when deciding what size shirt to select. From my personal experience, I find runDisney shirts to run a bit small, so I'm going to size up one from my regular t-shirt size for future races. I hope you can find this helpful!

To help you and your friend get placed in the same corral, I'd suggest that both of you choose the same pace and expected finishing time when you register. But here's the best news, Hannah! If one of you is in a later starting corral, the other friend is welcome to join. The general suggestion is that people can move to lower corrals, just not up to higher ones. While I love to run, I wouldn't call myself speedy. I'm pretty much Flash Slothmore from Zootopia while my husband is Nick Wilde. When we ran the Disney Princess Half Marathon, he stayed with me in my corral so we could run together. It sounds like you and I both know the secret, Hannah: magic multiplies when it's shared with people you care about!

I'm sending you all the faith, trust, and pixie dust as you and your friend register for the runDisney Walt Disney World Marathon Weekend!

    Go the distance!
