Hi. We are hoping to plan some dining experiences. Can you confirm if we make an online reservation at 50s prime time cafe for example, if cost of food is additional to the price paid at booking stage? thanks

    Hi Andrew,

I'm slightly confused by your question. If you're paying out of pocket for your food (not using the Disney Dining Plan), then this is your answer:

For most table service restaurants at Walt Disney World, you do have to use a credit card to hold the reservation, but you shouldn't actually be charged anything until after you dine.

The credit card information you give at reservation time only comes into play if you fail to show up for your meal. If you are a no-show, then you'll be assessed a penalty fee of $10 per person. But if you eat at the restaurant, you'll only be charged for the food/drink you order while you're there.

If you are using the Disney Dining Plan, the you will have paid a daily fee for the plan:

Again, you will be assessed a $10 penalty fee if you no-show for your meal.

With the Dining Plan, for the most part you will not have any additional charge for food. However, there are some exceptions. For example, some versions of the Dining Plan do not include appetizers as part of the plan. You're welcome to order an appetizer, but you'd have to pay for this separately. Similarly, alcoholic beverages are not included in the plan; you'll have to pay for those on your own. Also, the gratuity is not included with the Dining Plan (typically about 18%), so you'll have to budget for that out of pocket as well.

Good luck with your planning. Please let us know what else we can do to help.
