I was hoping to take my daughter to the Akershus princess banquet on December 11 or 12, but unfortunately I can't get a reservation online. Will I have better luck calling, or is there any hope of getting in without a reservation?

Hi Tracie! The princesses are in high demand at Walt Disney World, but with a little persistence, there's a good chance your young princess can have a meal with them at Akershus.  The key to snagging a reservation at one of the princess meals is to faithfully check for openings every day at various times of day. (I'm not sure of the size of your party, but I just checked the online reservation system for Akershus for a family of 4 and found a dinner reservation open on December 11 and a lunch one on December 12, so availability does fluctuate.)

I haven't found that calling for a reservation is more successful than trying online, but it never hurts to try both methods. The princesses appear all day at Akershus, so if you're flexible about the time of day, you'll have a greater likelihood of getting a reservation. Rather than searching for a reservation at a specific time, search for Breakfast, Lunch of Dinner. Also you can sometimes find availability by varying your party size. For instance, when I can't find a table for my family of 4, I sometimes am able to book a princess meal for just my daughter and I. Because Akershus requires a credit card guarantee, many guests whose plans have changed will cancel their reservations a few days prior to avoid being charged, so continue to check for openings even after you arrive at Disney World. I've often been able to get a table at popular restaurants by calling from my Disney resort room the night before. You can try walking up to the restaurant to see if there's last minute availability, but with Akershus, making a reservation is the best way to get a table.

If you're unable to reserve a table at Akershus, consider one of the other meals with the princesses. The royal ladies greet guests all day at Cinderella's Royal Table, and Cinderella's Happily Ever After Dinner at 1900 Park Fare is a lot of fun for little princesses.

    Wishing you a magical vacation!
