I am hoping to book our first trip as a family to WDW. I am a single parent and nervous about navigating the park/resorts. Will I need to rent a car or can I get to all of the resorts and attractions with provided transportation such as the monorail?

Car rental is a hot topic among the Moms Panel members. Many of the Moms always rent cars because they believe it saves them time. I will say that they're probably right about that. However, I happen to hate driving, so I would much rather take advantage of the plentiful, safe, free transportation that Disney has to offer. If you don't want to rent a car, you could certainly get by without one. My family hasn't rented cars on about 90% of our WDW vacations.

All the forms of transportation (monorail, bus, boat) are very well marked as to where they are going. In some cases, it can be a bit confusing about how to get from point A to B in the quickest way. If you're at all concerned, you could ask a cast member for assistance. There are transportation information booths near the bus stops at the theme parks. Also, the guest services desk at your resort would be happy to help. Additionally, there are plentiful taxis in the WDW area if you would prefer that option.

I will also tell you about a Disney guidebook I just bought last week that I had never seen before. I came across the EZ-est Most Fun Guide to Walt Disney World (by Anne Easterling) on Amazon.com while I was looking for something else. It has one feature that I haven't seen in the other Disney guidebooks. There are very clear charts that tell you exactly how to get to each of the parks, water parks, golf courses, or mini-golf courses from any of the parks and resorts. It's a pretty handy couple of pages.

Good luck and I hope you have a wonderful trip.
