Well hiya Candace, it's so great to welcome you back to planDisney!
Like Megara calls Hercules when they first meet, you might as well call me Wonderboy for my absolute love for
that particular ship in the Disney Cruise Line fleet; she was the first one that I've ever lived and worked on and I'm so happy that you'll be embarking on my original home-at-sea! Can you believe it's already been over a year from
when you first asked us about planning ahead for your Alaskan honeymoon cruise? Since then you've become a
Disney Fairytale Weddings DisBride and are so close to sailing with your True Love's Kiss!
For starters, you can get a downloadable overview of what you might find on board in the
planDisney Pocket Guide to the Disney Wonder; planDisney is also a great place to ask for first-hand information beyond what you might find on the Disney Cruise Line website. Something that I like to do before any cruise is to run an online search for Personal Navigators from similar past voyages - consistency is key to having everything run like clockwork on board and you might find that these scheduled activities may vary only slightly so it's worth getting an idea of what you could expect. Nowadays you can even find a lot of great video content online from tours of the ship's spaces so you're more familiar before you board, and even
full production shows posted on the Disney Parks Blog to get a sense of what's in store on stage! (I like to take advantage of
previewing the food options like the delectable dishes at
Tiana's Place to decide what I want to order in advance!)
Now I have a lot of fun facts, tips and tricks about the Disney Wonder with limited space, so I'll try my best to spill a few treasures:
- Check out the Youth Activities Spaces during Open House hours to see Imagineering details that most adult guests miss out on seeing - especially in the Oceaneer Lab.
- There's a special place in my heart for Deck 4, Port Side if you want a greater likelihood of unexpectedly running into character friends (especially closer to Shutters).
- The Promenade on Deck 4 is also where I've spotted pods of dolphins, whales and seals drifting on ice from a much closer and less-crowded vantage point!
- There's a special location on Deck 7, Forward overlooking the Crew Deck that guests may sometimes be invited to check out on your Glacier Viewing day (but may depend on your Captain)!
- You may hear the crew speak of a secret "library" on board, but like the West Wing in the Beast's castle - it is forbidden!
I can't wait for you to join us at planDisney again soon, Candace - feel free to
ask me any more questions that you might have ahead of your next Disney adventure. Wishing you all the best as you journey onwards in your Happily Ever After!
