Hello! Hope you had a great thanksgiving. Looking to take my 5 year old daughter and wife to Disney 12/27-1/1. What package(s) would you recommend? Thanks, Jeff

Hi Jeff! Thanks for bringing your question to planDisney!

I had a wonderful Thanksgiving and hope you did as well!  I'm so excited to hEAR about your family's upcoming trip to Walt Disney World Resort! Your little girl is going to be completely mesmerized by the Parks, the attractions, the shows, and the character friends she's about to meet! Five is a practically perfect age to plan a visit to The Most Magical Place on Earth and I hope I can help you in planning the best vacation ever!

Since we're just about a month away from your upcoming vacation, let's get right to planning! The very first thing I'd like to recommend is for you and your family to browse through the Disney Resort Hotels Pocket Guides that you can find right on the planDisney website.  These guides will give you bite-sized bits of information about each Disney Resorts Collection hotel so that you and your family can choose the Resort that best fits your idea of a perfect stay while also sticking to your budget.  I took a quick look at Resort availability for your dates and it looks like you're in good shape to choose a Value, Moderate or Deluxe Resort.

After choosing your Resort head to the Walt Disney World Resort website and click on "Places to Stay" to enter your vacation dates and see pricing. Once you've confirmed your Resort you'll be able to add Theme Park Tickets to make your stay a vacation package.  Right now, all Guests of Walt Disney World need both a valid Theme Park Ticket as well as a Theme Park Reservation to enter their first Park of the day.  When checking Park availability on the Theme Park Reservation Availability Calendar I did find that the Christmas Season is a busy one, and you're going to find that some Parks have already reached capacity.  However, Hakuna Matata (it means no worries!) because you and your family can add the Park Hopper Option to your Tickets, making it possible to visit each of the four Theme Parks, even if you can't make Theme Park Reservations for them.

To recap, (since I know I'm throwing a lot at you!), I would suggest you and your family purchase a 4 or 5-day Theme Park Ticket with the Park Hopper Option.  This means that you'll be able to visit each of the four Theme Parks even if you aren't able to start "hopping" from one Park to another until after 2 p.m.  As soon as you purchase your Theme Park Tickets head right over here to make your Theme Park Reservations.

I hope I'm not overwhelming you with information, but there is so much to explore all around the Resort! As you continue the planning process please feel free to stop by and see us again with any other planning questions!

Meet the Panelist: Ashley, Massachusetts

Hi All, I'm Ashley! From the very beginning Walt Disney World Resort has always been a part of my life. As a child I excitedly helped to plan family trips, as a young adult I planned our "happily ever after" right on Disney property, and now I'm lucky enough to plan magical vacations for my three incredible children. When we're not taking in the enchanting experiences of the parks, we're home in Massachusetts, probably planning our next trip! Learn More About Ashley
