Hope you dont mind another ? As you can imagine, the weather in florida in july is much hotter than here in Belfast. Have you any advice for 4 adults on how to keep cool (besides water and shade) Have heard about gel coolers that dont need freezer?

Hi, Yvonne!  There are a number of products on the market designed to help keep you cool during the hottest of days.  A very popular item that I have seen used in the theme parks are the cooling bandanas.  There are companies that sell them, and instructions on the web for making your own if you know how to sew.

Basically, these are bandanas that you wear around your neck.  They are filled with polymer like beads that when you soak them, will fill up with the water, and remain cool for a period of up to a few hours.  When you need to, you just re-soak them in water.

My father used to use his bandana often when we would travel to the theme parks, and he loved them.  I admit, I never used one myself, but as an insulin dependent diabetic, I have carried insulin in the theme parks with me in a pack that was kept cool using the same polymer crystals.  They worked extremely well for me, so I imagine they did do some good in keeping my dad cool!

Other things that help are wearing light colored, light weight clothing.  A hat with a brim - like a baseball cap - really goes a long way at helping keep you cool.  Drink a lot of water, and take any opportunity that you can to visit an air conditioned shop or attraction.

I need an Antrim Mom's Panel!  I took my girls there on a visit last August, and we definitely weren't dressed for the weather!  It is certainly MUCH cooler in Belfast in the summer than it is in Orlando!

    Have a wonderful vacation, Yvonne!
