As a honorable discharge veteran can we buy discounted and tax free magic your way tickets for a trip in December? If so, do we have to buy them from shades of green in person?

Hi Amanda and welcome to planDisney! We’re so glad you’re here! First, thank you for your family’s service. I am happy to help you navigate the discounts available to you and where to purchase them!

Disney offers several different military ticket options. The first is the Walt Disney World Military Theme Park Tickets. These are date-based tickets and slightly discounted below the general public. You can only purchase these from your local base or at the Shades of Green Resort. The ticket price is affected by several factors, including the dates you choose. You will need an active military ID to purchase the tickets, and they will be tax-free both at a military base and the Shades of Green.

The second type is the Disney Military Salute ticket. These are available as 4-Day, 5-Day, or 6-Day tickets with the Park Hopper or Park Hopper Plus option. These tickets come with more savings and up to six tickets can be purchased by active duty military personnel, retirees, and 100% disabled veterans, or their spouses. Be sure to read the eligibility requirements to see if you qualify. This year there is also the Disney Celebrates America Salute ticket, which is an amazing offer! It includes admission to all four Walt Disney World Resort theme parks until December 18, 2026, with just a couple of blackout periods. Eligibility requirements are the same for these tickets as the Disney Military Salute tickets. Both tickets can not only be purchased at your local base and Shades of Green, but can also be purchased at any Walt Disney World ticket window. However, you would pay tax by purchasing them directly from Disney. Be sure to bring your military ID because the service member or spouse will need to activate them at a Walt Disney World Resort theme park ticket window before the first entry, even if you buy them on the base or at Shades of Green.

I hope this helps as you plan your visit to the Most Magical Place on Earth, Amanda! If you have any more questions, just send me a note and I am happy to help. Thanks for stopping by planDisney, and we hope to see ya real soon!
