Hello, Carina! Thanks for coming to planDisney with your question! I'm certain that my kids' teachers groan every time I pull them out of school for another Disney Parks vacation, but one thing I've learned over the years is that
Disneyland Resort is a giant classroom. Learning about the history of when those swashbuckling pirates ruled the high seas or reading the classic Peter Pan story by J.M. Barrie are just two simple ways to work school subjects into a magical vacation!
Disneyland Resort does not offer discounts or officially sponsor Homeschool Days. However, there are Facebook groups that organize their own; try looking under "Disney Homeschool Days." They often have a group leader who will set up a couple of dates each year for kids to participate in career-building workshops and experiences. For the most part, families are responsible for obtaining their own admission into the parks, but occasionally, these groups can offer discounted youth group tickets.
I also encourage you to visit the
Disney Imagination Campus webpage or call them at (321) 939-7560. They have a comprehensive collection of workshops across a range of performing arts and academic subjects. I was lucky to be their invited guest at Walt Disney World Resort several years ago, and I can attest to how wonderful their workshops are! I learned all about the properties of light by going backstage at the
Haunted Mansion, and when we rode
Space Mountain, we made hypotheses about inertia, force, and friction. Their workshops require a minimum number of students (usually around 15), so if you have a coalition of other homeschool families in your area, I think this would be perfect. After contacting them, you will need to fill out a form about your group and their interests to help determine the best classes. Then, you will receive supplemental teaching materials before your trip.
I hope this helps, Carina! Please feel free to write us back anytime. We hope to see ya real soon!
